Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name given to Winona Laura Hoowitz, birthed in Winona Minnesota. Parents of Winona Ryder gave her the name of the town she grew up in. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's mother and father are both Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. The actress is the younger sister of Uria and half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's parents relocated her and her siblings into Mendocino County California when Ryder turned seven. Here, they did not have electricity. Ryder was an avid reader and spent her time reading books because there was no TV. Ryder began taking classes in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12. Lucas was let go in 1986, and Ryder who was only 15, landed a role as a leading actor. Ryder experienced bullying at her high school. She hoped that the acting profession would end that. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Still she continued pursuing her dreams. Beetlejuice, a 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first big breakthrough. Ryder continued to play successful roles in many movies. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
